Our client is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team in Maitland, Cape Town.
The ideal candidate will have a B.Com degree in Cost Accounting coupled with 3 – 5 years appropriate experience in a manufacturing environment. You should be self‐motivated and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
This position is responsible for the overall control and accuracy of the Cost of Sales Ledger which includes both the Cape Town and Durban divisions and to perform other ad-hoc duties as directed by the Finance Director.
Core duties and responsibilities include:
Overseeing the stock control process and ensuring procedures are followed and variances are resolved
Reviewing all stock valuations at month end
Investigating & resolving periodic stock issues
Managing obsolete stock provision quarterly, reporting monthly on slow moving and obsolete stock
Charging all departments for printing and stationary usage monthly
Charging all departments for spares usage monthly
Calculating forex gains & losses on all imported goods
Reviewing & authorising all import valuations
Calculating and processing pre-payments and Accruals
Ensuring annual price increases are updated in the system
Stock takes – ensuring monthly stock takes are done and co-ordinate year end stock take with the auditors
Ensuring Audit schedules are updated
Updating pricing matrix
Costing standards – quarterly raw material standard cost updates & half yearly labour cost updates
Preparing stock schedules and reports for monthly management accounts
Updating stock plan schedule actual & budget
Annual calculation and quarterly review of labour and overhead recovery rates and maintenance of costing system
Overseeing the purchasing both local and import
Salary RangeR20 000 - R30 000
