Cost Accountant (REF: AR104) (R30 000 to R33 000 p.m. Cost to Company) – Maitland, Western Cape

Job Overview

Our client a leading entity in the textile/packaging-industry is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team


BCOM degree in Cost Accounting

3 – 5 years appropriate experience in a medium sized company

Manufacturing experience


Oversee the stock control process (stock codes etc) and ensure procedures are followed and variances are resolved

Review all stock valuations at month end

Investigate & resolve periodic stock issues

Manage obsolete stock provision quarterly, report monthly on slow moving and obsolete stock

Charge all departments for printing and stationary usage monthly

Charge all departments for spares usage monthly

Calculate heavy duty furnace oil usage for the Dye house and charge out to applicable departments

Calculate forex gains & losses on all imported goods

Review & authorise all import valuations

Calculate and process pre-payments and Accruals

Margin/variance exception report – request specs from production where required, ensure that costings are done and forwarded to relevant sales/internal dept. Special pricing requests then signed off with MD

Ensure that annual price increases are updated in the system; all contract customer prices are reviewed and updated prior to expiry

Stock takes – ensure monthly stock takes are done and co-ordinate year end stock take with the auditors

Ensure Audit schedules are updated

Update of pricing matrix

Costing standards – quarterly raw material standard cost updates & half yearly labour cost updates (costing templates)

Prepare stock schedules and reports (KPI’s) for monthly management accounts

Update stock plan schedule actual & budget

Annual calculation and quarterly review of labour and overhead recovery rates and maintenance of costing system

Oversee the purchasing both local and import

Oversee factory indirect
