Finance Audit Manager (AA/EE Position) (REF: KK271) (Market Related Salary) – Woodstock, Western Cape

Job Overview

Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, the successfulcandidate will be responsible for managing the finance audit function, whichpurpose it is to independently evaluate and report on the adequacy andeffectiveness of the internal controls within the company. This includesassessing the controls over the reliability and integrity of financial andoperational information, effectiveness and efficiency of operations,safeguarding assets and compliance with laws, regulations, and contracts. Therole also provides support to the Head of Internal Audit with Audit and RiskCommittee reporting requirements.


Leading the finance audit function within internal audit

Delivering the complete finance audit plan (retail and distribution) in line with the methodology with quality reporting, practical,cost effective, innovative and sustainable recommendations and root cause analysis in a timely manner

Optimizing and improving the efficiency of the finance audit team and quality of deliverables

Ensuring methodical documentation of risk and control matrices, testing results, conclusions and recommendations. Ensuring follow ups on findings and corrective actions

Coordinating and assisting with the preparation of Audi Committee deliverables

Continued combined assurance approach to ensure maximum reliance by external audit on the work of internal audit

Providing technical assistance with investigations, special audits, and providing subject-matter expertise as needed

Establishing successful working relationship with the key stakeholders, while providing quality independent audit assurance on the risks that matter. Proactively informing senior management of significant risks or exposures related to internal controls, compliance, and/or governance requiring prompt attention

Remaining current on audit and applicable regulatory oversight trends and developing a risk based approach incorporated into the annual audit plan

Providing support to Head of Internal Audit in terms in coordinating risk management activities and the preparation of the bi-annual risk reports


CA (SA) qualification

Articles completed with a big four or recognised medium tier firm

IT Risk and audit certification (e.g. CISA) (Desirable)

Risk Management certification (Desirable)

A demonstrable track record with a minimum of 8 – 10 years of success in a professional audit capacity, 5 of which within internal assurance. Big 4 or Top 10 experience in external and/or internal audit is required

Considerable, demonstrable experience auditing complex environments for compliance with policies, procedures, applicable regulations,and best practices

Experience across a broad range of audit areas including operational and financial assurance

Ability to effectively lead a team providing coaching and mentoring; and co-ordinate learning activities of the team such that the finance audit team’s skills and capabilities keep pace with the changing business challenges

Experience in continuous trend analyses / interpretation of data to identify out-of-line trends and to detect potential risk

Demonstrable experience in establishing and maintaining working relationships with peers, senior leadership and all levels of the organization, with a positive and professional image, risks and opportunities

Retail experience is desirable (Desirable)

Experience in IT audit and project assurance (Desirable)

Advanced knowledge of audit principles and theory, including the Institute of Internal Auditing (IIA) standards

Knowledge of Internal Financial reporting standards (IFRS),statutory accounting principles

Knowledge of King IV and governance principles

An understanding of IT risk and controls, general controls and their impact on business risk and controls (Desirable)

Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills (including Pivot Tables, Vlookup etc.)
