Financial Controller (REF: KK274) (Market Related) – Grabouw, Western Cape

Job Overview

Reporting to the Financial Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting as well as treasury functions and initiating the month-end closing and reporting processes.


Leading and developing finance team members

Liaising with Management and assisting with the preparations for monthly financial review meetings

Assisting with the preparation of timeous consolidated financial management accounts

Assisting with the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes

Maintaining the necessary controls over sales and expenditure

Controlling and managing the ledgers (GL, AR and AP) and taking ownership of the accuracy of financial records. Signing off and releasing all journal and cashbook entries

Reviewing and signing off all monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations

Submitting and reconciling all statutory obligations comprising Income, Payroll and Customs Taxes, as well as other regulatory filings

Assisting with year-end and internal audits and deliverables, including liaising with external auditors

Reviewing standard cost and consumption variance reports and driving investigations to identify the reasons for discrepancies

Administering the periodic update of standard costs

Overseeing monthly stock counts, reviewing variance reports and advising corrective action

Managing cash flow by actively monitoring bank accounts on a daily basis to ensure optimal returns on working capital

Liaising with bank on all forex trading activities

Ensuring the completeness of all export sales documentation

Preparing quarterly BBBEE monitoring reports and assisting with preparations for annual BBBEE verification

Providing financial technical support to the Financial Manager with detailed knowledge of IFRS and relevant tax legislation

Preparing and compiling advanced reports and presentations with minimal guidance, utilizing creative information

Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the FM or MD.



Minimum 3 years’ management experience.

Minimum 5 years’ experience post articles.

Manufacturing Experience is non-negotiable. Experience in Financial

Planning and Analysis, Stock Control and Costings

Sound Management and Financial Skills (planning, organizing,coordinating, resource allocation, control)

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is non-negotiable

Experience with ERP systems and MIS software is a pre-requisite. MS Dynamics NAV and Jet Reports experience is advantageous

Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

Understanding of Legislations, Compliance and Procedures
