Our client, a leader in their field, is looking for a Group Consolidation and Tax Accountant to assist with financial statement and internal management reporting finance related project deliverables.
The successful candidate will be responsible for various technically oriented statutory reporting deliverables, most notably compiling monthly, quarterly, interim and year end reporting packs and annual financial statements; reviewing tax computations and general tax administration for the Group and its subsidiaries.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Statutory Reporting:
Compiling monthly, quarterly, interim and year end reporting pack for the Group
Maintaining consolidation journals and recons
Assisting with the accounting of complex transactions throughout the Group including acquisitions and disposals of subsidiaries and restructuring transactions
Ensuring the reporting timetable is adhered to, including communicating with the various subsidiaries to assist when needed and to communicate exceptions
Assisting with interim and year end external audit queries and requests
Assisting with the preparation of Group and subsidiaries statutory financial statements
Assisting with the preparation of reports for presentation to the Audit Committee
Reviewing the monthly consolidation, performing analytical procedures and following up on unusual transactions and variances
Aligning subsidiaries reporting to the Group’s requirements and policies
Performing an annual assessment of goodwill impairment
Assisting in the valuation of financial assets/liabilities
Assisting in training on reporting packs and providing assistance with submissions where required
Budgets / Forecasts:
Assisting with the preparation of the consolidated balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement for forecasts and budgets
Assisting with loading data for forecast and budgets onto the reporting tool
Reporting tool (Adaptive):
Being the custodian and champion of the Group Reporting tool
Assisting the Group Finance Managers with loading financial information monthly and mapping new TB accounts if needed
Driving further automation and optimisation of financial reports within the Group
Maintaining and implementing the reporting tool to newly acquired subsidiaries
Tax Reporting and administration:
Reviewing tax schedules
Reviewing provisional tax calculations for Group entities
Assisting with the preparation of responses to SARS tax queries
Maintaining all Group tax opinions
Reviewing subsidiaries tax returns
Maintaining overall view of tax compliance in Group (VAT, PAYE, Income tax)
Other:
Researching new IFRS standards and drafting accounting position papers
Assisting with ad-hoc reporting and analysis
Assisting with other finance related projects
REQUIREMENTS:
CA (SA) qualification
Minimum of 3- 5 years’ in a Group consolidation/reporting role
Listed Group experience to an advantage
MS Office (with a high proficiency in MS Excel)
Strong IFRS knowledge and experience
Strong interest in tax
