Our client is looking for a self-motivated, detail and process oriented Payroll Specialist to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Payroll: Ensuring effective administration of the full payroll process – conducting and monitoring accurate and timeous payments, audits, statutory requirements as well as the accurate recording and storing of information
Reporting: Supporting an effective and efficient HR function by collating and administering HR processes, data and metrics in order to improve the link between people and data and provide accurate reporting
Reporting to the HR Manager, responsibilities include:
Payroll:
Being responsible for the full HR payroll function for multiple divisions
Managing the payroll process according to the payroll framework and relevant authorisations
Collating and verifying information to be submitted for payroll processing
Liaising with third party payroll service provider and managing the payroll function and reporting
Meeting all payroll and statutory deadlines
Understanding and managing income tax, SARS requirements, employee benefits and MEIBC legislation
Tax Year end, IRP5 submissions, COIDA submissions and payroll reconciliations (statutory, finance, benefits, returns)
Reviewing and reporting on payroll results for accuracy and timeous salary payments – weekly and monthly
Managing historical payroll data and legacy systems for enquiries
Complying with and managing audits efficiently (internal and external related to payroll, leave, BEE or Department of Labour)
Overseeing and maintaining the payroll Employee Self Service (ESS) function – maintenance, monitoring and control of leave records and reports
Ensuring accurate processing, maintenance, archiving and filing of employee records including accurate and proper record-keeping
Responsible for the Time & Attendance processes
Resolving payroll queries and engaging with employees to resolve their queries
Remaining abreast of statutory and legislative developments and requirements
Working with third party payroll providers and ensure that changes in legislation are updated and data is accurate
Ensuring the accuracy of all payroll related information within the HR database
Reporting:
Providing HR support with generalist functions such as Recruitment, Onboarding, Training, Statutory compliance and IR matters
Reporting – drawing and collating reports and schedules, preparing and collating various reports based on business needs, including information required by Department of Labour
Assisting with market survey processes and able to provide required data
Completing monthly HR reports
Collating data for Group Internal Audits
Working closely with teams throughout the business to manage HR data required for systems and engagement tools
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Payroll qualification
Experience in payroll (international exposure an advantage) and employee tax legislation
Able to meet deadlines and prioritise workload
Able to implement processes and create efficiencies
Strictly confidential and ethical nature
Persistent and tenacious, a self-starter who can work unsupervised with the ability to multitask
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
